Where you can play sweepstakes casinos in the US

Where you can play

Sweepstakes casinos operate under promotional law, so the map is wide — but it is not the whole country, and brands draw their own lines on top of it.

The one state that is closed everywhere

Washington treats online gambling more strictly than any other state, and no sweepstakes casino on this list accepts players there. This is not a brand-by-brand decision; it is uniform, and it has been stable for years. If you are in Washington, nothing on this page is available to you.

States where brands differ

Idaho, Michigan, Montana and Nevada are the states where you will see brands part company. Some accept players, some do not, and a few accept sign-ups but block coin purchases. Michigan in particular changed hands more than once after its regulated online casino market opened. Always check the brand’s own terms page rather than a third-party list — including ours — because these decisions change without announcement.

Age requirements are not uniform either

Most brands set the minimum at 18. A meaningful number set it at 21 regardless of state, and a few set 18 nationally but 21 in specific states. The age applies at sign-up and again at verification, and an account opened under the threshold will fail the identity check and lose the balance.

How the location check actually works

Sign-up asks for an address and the platform geolocates the connection. Most brands check again before a redemption is approved. Using a VPN to appear elsewhere is a terms breach at every brand on this list and the standard consequence is a frozen account with the balance forfeited — we have seen it applied.

Why the rules are different from regulated casinos

A regulated online casino needs a licence from a state gaming authority, which is why those markets are small and slow to open. A sweepstakes casino is running a promotion, not a casino, and promotions are legal almost everywhere provided entry is free and the rules are published. That is the entire basis of the model, and it is also why the free postal route is not a technicality — it is the thing that keeps the model legal.

If you move, or travel

Your eligibility follows where you are, not where you signed up. Cross into a blocked state and the games stop working; cross back and they resume. Redemptions are checked against your registered address, so if you move permanently, update the account before you file rather than after.

Check the brand, not just the map

This page describes the pattern across the eighteen brands we track. Individual terms are the authority, they change, and the brand’s own page is the only version that binds anyone.
